We care about you!
Shoco Wellness is a mental health & wellbeing project funded by OCW stimuleringsfonds for students and staff at the UA, IPA, and EPI.
VISION
The vision of the Shoco Wellness Project is that mental health and wellbeing is valued as essential to academic success in higher education in Aruba.
MISSION
The mission of the Shoco Wellness Project is to actively promote mental health and well-being in higher education in Aruba by providing a calendar of events that focus on connection and building a sense of community, a program of awareness and prevention workshops, free coaching and counseling, and empowering students and staff to succeed academically and personally.
Mental Health & Wellbeing Model
The Shoco Wellness model as a continuum includes wellbeing at one end and distress at the other end. At the wellbeing end of the continuum is flourishing (green zone) indicating high levels of mental and social wellbeing. At the other end, is languishing (yellow zone) indicating low levels of wellbeing with mild, but transient distress.
At the mental distress end of the mental health continuum is struggling (orange zone) and floundering (red zone). Struggling entails presence of chronic stress though there is no dysfunction yet. Floundering respresents high levels of distress and dysfunction with the risk of persistent impairment.
Shoco Wellness empowers individuals to move from distress toward resilience and, ultimately, to flourish in both their academic and personal lives.
